The Story...

On Sunday July 5 I started to have bad back pain and pelvic pressure. Around 11:30pm I had Jake take me to labor and delivery at St. Mark's, I couldn't take the pain any longer. My contractions were 5 minutes apart. We got checked in and hooked up to monitors. My contractions were 5-6 minutes apart but very strong. I was still dilated to a 1! They called my doctor and he told them to give me a shot of Morphine and send me home so I could get some sleep and I would see him at my appointment the next day. Monday morning comes around and I start getting the same pains but my contractions are 3-4 minutes apart. My appointment was at 3pm so I thought I would stick it out till then. I had Jake leave work early so he could take me since I was in no condition to drive. I get to his office, having contractions in the waiting room! The nurse calls me back and immediately my doctors says you are having this baby tonight so you need to go to labor and delivery. We get there and again they get me hooked up to the monitors, start an I.V., and get my Epidural in. At this time I am still dilated to a 1. My doctor comes in and breaks my water and loosens the scar tissue around my cervix from my previous surgeries that was keeping me from dilating. Within 2 hours I was dilated to a 3+. After about another 3 hours I was dilated to a 9+. I was very surprised that I dilated on my own with no Pitosin! Around midnight I started to push. I pushed for 2 and a half hours with no progress. My doctor came in and had me push for him a couple of times to make sure I was not progressing. Which I was not. He also tried to turn the baby since she was looking up, instead of down, so her head was stuck in my pelvis. So at 2:30am we decided to do a C-section. She was born at 2:55am at 9lbs. 3oz. and 21 1/2 inches long.

Final Baby Shower...

On Saturday I had my final baby shower at my sister-in-laws house. We had some great food like chicken salad sandwiches, salad, fruit, shrimp, and vegetables. For dessert we had chocolate covered raspberries and strawberries and chocolate dipped butterfly cookies. I got some awesome stuff too. I got my pack n play, clothes, gift cards, bottle warmer, wipes warmer, drying rack, blankets, diapers, burp cloths, and so much more. Thanks to my sister-in-law Kaydee for putting it all together and to everyone else who helped her.

Baby Update...

Yesterday I went to see my doctor for my 36 week check up. They took my weight, blood pressure, which was 118/78, and did a urinalysis. He listened to her heartbeat at 145 BPM. He measured me and I am measuring right on target. I am 75% thinned and almost dilated to a 1. They also did a swab to make sure I don't have Strep B in the birth canal. He checked my hands and face for swelling, which I didn't have any. My feet are a little swollen but nothing to be worried about. Everything is looking good so far. I go back next week, so I will keep everyone posted.

Baby Update...

Today I went to the doctor for my 34 week check up. Everything looks great. They took my weight, did a urinalysis, and took my blood pressure, which was 108/78. He measured me and I am measuring right on target. He heard the heartbeat at 150 BPM. He also felt my abdomen to see if she is head down and she is! He checked me for swelling, none so far. I go back in two weeks on June 1. I will keep everyone posted.

On Saturday my cute friends gave me my first baby shower. It was small and sweet. We had only 14 people there but it made it nice, since my next showers will have alot of people at them. I got so much stuff from hand made blankets, bottles, clothes, space saver high chair, bumbo with tray, baby carrier, handmade sweater with matching hat, frames, and her mobile. We played two games and had a light lunch. Thanks to my friends Megan and Becci for giving me my shower.

Baby Update...

Yesterday I went to see my doctor for my 30 week appointment. I am doing much better after my week of bed rest. They took my blood pressure which was 100/68, they did a urinalysis, and took my weight. He measured me and I am right on target! He also listened to her heartbeat, beating away at 145 BPM. And he gave me the ok to go back to work but I can only work 8 hours a day. I usually work one 10 hour shift a week that usually turns into one or two 12 hour shifts. No more of that! He also checked my hands and feet for swelling. I have to go back on May 4. I will keep everyone posted.

Bed Rest!!

Yes I am on bed rest, but only till Monday (hopefully). On Sunday night I got up to use the rest room at about 2 am like I usually do, but it was not only urine I had massive diarrhea followed by vomiting. This went on till 8 am Monday morning. I then started to have back pain with a heavy pelvic pressure then labor pains. So around 9:30 am my mom took me into labor and delivery where they hooked me up to fetal monitors. The baby looked great and was never in distress, but I was showing a lot of contractions along with uterine irritability. They put an I.V. in and got me started on a liter of saline along with a dose of Zofran for nausea. They then started to give me another liter of saline. After I had both liters I was starting to feel much better but was still showing contractions and irritability. They then had me go to the bathroom so they could do a urinalysis. While we were waiting for the results they started me on a third bag of saline. My doctor had them check my cervix at this time. My cervix was closed but very soft. This concerned my doctor. He had them give me a shot of Terbutaline which within 20 minutes should stop the contractions. After about 10 minutes the contractions had almost gone away. We got the results back from the urinalysis which showed that I was still very dehydrated after the two bags of saline so my doctor wanted me to have a fourth bag. During that fourth bag I started showing some irritability again but not like it was. My doctor felt ok sending me home but on bed rest until my appointment on Monday. So I guess I have gotten some weird virus which made me have diarrhea and vomit which then made me dehydrated so my uterus got irritated which then caused me to have contractions. So this is why I have been put on bed rest for a week. I will let everyone know how things go on Monday.

Baby Update...

Today I had to take a Glucose test to make sure I am not getting Gestational Diabetes then they had to draw my blood then I went to see my doctor. I am now a little over 26 weeks and can't believe I will be starting my third trimester on Sunday! At my appointment they took my blood pressure, did a urinalysis, and took my weight. He measured me to make sure I am on target. I am measuring a half a centimeter bigger than most, the doctor was very excited about this since I have been measuring small. He listened to the heartbeat with the doppler, it was 155BPM. He checked my cervix to make sure it was doing good, since I have an incompetent cervix. He said my cervix is still closed and feels thick. This was great news! I go back on April 20. Everything looks great! I will keep everyone posted.

The Room, So Far...

For the past couple of weeks we have been working on cleaning, painting, and putting the furniture in the baby's room. Here is a preview of what we have done so far. We are still working on the bedding and we still need to put all of the butterflies and flowers on the wall. I will post more pictures as the room progresses.

Finally A Name...

After a long list of names we liked and months of going back and forth, we have finally chosen a name. We are going to name her Brinley Jordison. We are not sure on a middle name yet.

On Saturday we got started on the Baby's room. My mom, Jake, and his dad painted the room, since I am not suppose to be around the paint. We painted it pink and left some of it white. I have lime green, hot pink, brown, and tan butterflies and flowers that I painted to put on the wall around her name. My mom bought my comforter and it matches all of the colors perfectly. We ordered the furniture and it should be here any day. I will post some pictures soon.

Baby Update...

On Monday, I went to see the doctor. I am now just a little over 22 weeks. They took my blood pressure, took my weight, and did a urinalysis. We heard the baby's heartbeat, beating at 150 BPM. He measured me and I am measuring right on. He thought it would be funny to see what I should measure at at 40 weeks. I thought Jake was going to fall out of his chair when he saw how much more I needed to grow! I got to pick out a yummy flavor for my glucose test on March 25 to make sure I am not getting gestational diabetes. So all is well. I go back on March 25 and will keep everyone posted.

It's A Girl...

The shot to let us know she was a girl.

Her profile colored in pink.

Her foot.

3-D image of her sucking her thumb.

So today I went to Millcreek Imaging and had my ultrasound. The ultrasound was about an hour long. During the test they went over every single organ in the baby's body, starting from the head then down to the toes then to the heart and then they finally told us what we were having. They checked my placenta and the amniotic fluid. They took all sorts of measurements too. We got all of our pictures on a C.D. then we got the entire ultrasound on a DVD. What an awesome thing. This was probably one of the coolest things I have ever seen. Jake, my mom, and myself got to watch the test done on a HD flat screen T.V. We are so excited to be having a little girl!! I have already been shopping. We have a list of names that we like but nothing is set in stone. I will keep everyone posted.

Baby Update...

Today I went to see my doctor. I am now 18 weeks and 1 day. They took my weight, my blood pressure, and did a urinalysis. He also felt to make sure my uterus was where it was suppose to be. We heard the baby's heartbeat by doppler, beating at 145 BPM. I declined to do the genetic testing. I didn't want to be more stressed out! It's only a probability test anyway, not a "yes" or "no". I would like some feedback from my fellow bloggers if they did or did not do it. I can still change my mind in the next couple of weeks. So far everything looks great. We find out on Wednesday the sex of the baby, I can hardly wait!! My next appointment is on February 23, so I will keep everyone posted.
